Publication of material for the ACC/SCN's First Report on the World Nutrition Situation in two sections - as the report itself and this supplement - was originally proposed by the Advisory Group on Nutrition (AGN), to expedite making the results of the review available. The First Report was issued in November 1987, has been widely distributed and is now being reprinted. This Supplement on Methods and Statistics gives details of methods and data used. For much of the data and advice on analytical methods we are indebted to all those who helped with the First Report, as acknowledged there, notably those in FAO, WHO, and members of the AGN.
