During the reporting period, CEB and its three pillars have made advances in the coordination and coherence of the United Nations system on system-wide issues. The Board also devoted increasing attention to operational issues at the country level and to alignment of the work of the United Nations system at the global, regional and country levels. In the period ahead, the Board will continue its ongoing efforts to promote enhanced coordination and coherence within the United Nations system, building on the solid foundation that it has already laid, for effective support to Member States.
56.    The work of CEB in 2010/11 is expected to be framed by upcoming events, such as the High-level Meeting to Review Progress on the Millennium Development Goals (20-22 September 2010), the International Year of Biodiversity 2010, the sixteenth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (29 November-10 December 2010), the Fourth United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (2011), and preparations for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio + 20) (2012).
