Actions

Action on the contribution to the CEB Post 2015 Strategy

The Committee:

  • Agreed to review and provide written comments on the draft joint Chapeau to the CEB Post 2015 – Fit for Purpose Strategy, ahead of the CEB first regular session of 2014. 
  • Requested the CEB secretariat to prepare and circulate for comment a draft outline, drawing on the Committee’s Strategic Plan 2013-2016, of the Committee’s contribution to the fit-for-purpose discussion to be held at the second regular CEB session of 2014, and to subsequently prepare a draft paper, following a consultative process among all HLCM members, for the Committee’s endorsement at its twenty-eighth session. 

 

Action on the ICSC Review of the UN Compensation Package

The Committee:

  • Took note of the update on the progress of the review of the UN Compensation Package provided by the HR Network.
  • Confirmed its full support and commitment for an active engagement and collaboration with ICSC in this exercise.
  • Reiterated that the future Compensation Package must adhere to the key principles reflected in the CEB Statement on the ICSC Compensation Review. 
  • Reiterated its request that discussions and subsequent recommendations must be objective and based on relevant facts, data and evidence.

Action on the financial instruments and mechanisms for International Organizations

The Committee:

  • Recognized, within the context of the CEB discussion on fit for purpose, the need for the United Nations system to best deploy its normative and operational mandates through robust partnerships, including with funding partners and stakeholders.
  • Agreed to develop its contribution to the fit-for-purpose discussion also in light of the experiences presented on innovative financial instruments and mechanisms, and with due consideration to the emerging funding and partnership models. 

Action on the UN System Organizational Resilience Management System

The Committee:

  • Took note with appreciation of the update of the development of the Organizational Resilience Management System (ORMS).
  • Decided to form an interagency working group to:
  1. Draft a UN System common organizational resilience policy; and
  2. Develop key performance indicators and a maintenance, exercise and review regime.
  • Asked the UN Secretariat, as lead agency, to report back to the Committee at its October 2014 session.
