Tony Hill was appointed Coordinator of NGLS in 1991 after a stint as Senior Programme Officer. Prior to that he worked at the Catholic Institute for International Relations in London and the Banco Paraguayo de Datos, an NGO based in Asunción, Paraguay. Tony holds a BSc, First Class Honours (social sciences) from Bath University (UK) and an MPhil (Development Studies) from the Institute of Development Studies, also in the UK.
Stella Arthur,  Officer-in-Charge in New York, joined UN-NGLS in 1999 and has spent much of that time collaborating with the UN system and NGOs to build  constructive engagement in UN conferences and processes dealing with the UN's development and human rights agenda. Stella previously worked with the Canadian Jubilee debt campaign, and local NGOs in the Philippines, India and the Dominican Republic focused on innovative strategies in the field of community leadership formation. Stella holds a Master's degree in Political Economy of Development from the University of Toronto.
Gulzada Bafina is "the voice of NGLS" in New York, she is the beginning of the liaison adventure for many NGOs who are new to the UN, as well as UN system colleagues. Gulzada is a former US/UN correspondent, who covered international affairs, business and culture for independent Kazakhstani media. She holds a Master's degree in Journalism from the State University of Kazakhstan.
Jem Bendell joined NGLS in Geneva in October 2003 to work on NGLS's programme development. In the previous 8 years, Jem consulted for the private, voluntary and intergovernmental sectors. An author of two books on relations between the voluntary and corporate sectors, and a columnist on corporate responsibility, he is particularly involved in the international development dimensions to these issues. With a Doctorate in International Policy, Jem is a Visiting Fellow at Nottingham and Auckland Universities. 
Elizabeth James joined NGLS in Geneva in February 2003, and is responsible for the administrative aspects of NGLS, both for Geneva and New York. Prior to joining the United Nations, she worked for, amongst others, the World Bank, the British High Commission, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, and the Save the Children Fund.  She recently obtained a diploma in Project Management and completed a course on Collaborative Negotiations. She enjoys meeting people, traveling, music, reading and cooking.
Ramin Kaweh joined the UN-NGLS Geneva as a Programme Officer in 2003.  Prior to that, he worked with UNESCO and also with the private sector consulting international organisations and NGOs. Ramin has a Master’s degree in International Relations from the University of Kent, and worked as a researcher on globalisation issues at the London School of Economics. He is also a faculty member at Webster University in Geneva.  
Anne Kawuki came to NGLS (Geneva) from the Global Progamme on AIDS in 1994. She is responsible for publications dissemination, database management and provides support to NGLS meetings and conferences.  Born in Uganda, she has lived in ten African countries, and likes to travel in her spare time. She holds a bi-lingual administrative diploma.
Jerry Maldonado is the newest addition to NGLS in New York, joining the team as a Programme Officer in October 2003.  Prior to joining NGLS, Jerry worked extensively with a number of academic, non-profit and philanthropic institutions in the area of international economic governance and development policymaking.  He holds a Master's in International Affairs from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University.

 

Abigail Neville joined NGLS in New York in 1997 after several years of UN liaison work with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation. She currently serves as the Information Officer, coordinating outreach for the New York office of NGLS, among other responsibilities.  She holds a B. A. in Latin American Studies from Carleton College, and an M. A. in Linguistics from New York University. She has worked in Latin America and also has professional experience in publicity and marketing, as well as fine arts. She has broad interests in the areas of language and culture, and is currently studying Arabic.
Beth Peoc’h joined NGLS in Geneva in September 2001 as editor of NGLS’s publications. Prior to that, she worked for Smithsonian Magazine in Washington DC as advertising production manager, and in the Economics and Trade Unit at the United Nations Environment Programme in Geneva. She enjoys the fast work pace NGLS provides, which helps keep her in shape for when she finds time to run marathons. She holds a BA in journalism and creative writing from Oklahoma State University (US).
