Special meeting of the ACC/SCN Working Group on Nutrition in Emergencies on the Assessment of Adult Malnutrition in Emergencies

Hosted by The World Food Programme at the Stanley Hotel, Nairobi, 4 April 2001

The SCN Working Group on Nutrition in Emergencies have organized this special meeting to take place during the SCN annual session to be held in Nairobi 2-6th April. The aim of this one-day meeting is to improve humanitarian response to the nutritional needs of malnourished adults through sharing experience and recommendations on assessment of malnutrition in adults. The elderly and adolescence will be included in the discussion where assessment issues apply.

Objectives:

  • To reach a common understanding of the recommendations on the assessment of malnutrition in adults
  • To identify practical steps to improve practice in the assessment of adult malnutrition.
